What Would You Do? Abraham Lincoln

In this simulation, you will place yourself in Abraham Lincoln’s position in a series of historical scenarios. You will review the opinions of leading politicians and journalists at the time. After reviewing these materials, you will be asked to select a course of action and explain your reasoning. Like Lincoln, you will have to consider not only your personal values, but also the position of the Republican party and its constituents, the strength of the secessionist movement in the Deep South, and the potential consequences of any decision.

There are multiple questions in each of the three scenarios. Make sure that you address all of them. Do NOT press SUBMIT until you are ready to submit the complete activity. You can only press SUBMIT once. When you have finished a scenario, a message that says, “You have completed this scenario! Move on to the next one” will display.
