First of all: Danke schön! The Texas German Dialect Project (TGDP) would not be possible

without the dedicated community of researchers, speakers, donors, and friends who help us

take our mission – the documentation and preservation of Texas German – and turn it into

reality. If you are considering becoming a member of this family of supporters, see below for the

many different ways you can help realize our goals!

Sponsor A Speaker

Our waitlist, formed in 2008 when steady financial funding for the TGDP markedly decreased,

is more than 400 speakers long. From the actual interview process (which often involves travel

costs), to the digitizing, editing, analyzing, transcribing, translating, and archiving of the files,

sponsoring the interview of a new Texas German speaker is one of the easiest and most

impactful ways to make a difference in our project. If you would like to tell us about a new

speaker you want to sponsor, or simply sponsor a speaker from our waitlist, email Dr. Hans

Boas at hcb@mail.utexas.edu or call (512) 910-5047.

Help Grow Our Endowment

A donation to the Texas German Endowment, established in 2009 at UT Austin, is a long-term

investment in the future of our project. Besides supporting on-going project activities, funds

generated by the Endowment will be used for fellowships to support student and faculty at UT

Austin who are conducting research on Texas German culture, folklore, language, and history.

Your gift to the Endowment will keep giving for years to come!

Donate To Our Support Fund

Donations to the General Support Fund are put to work immediately in the areas of our greatest

need, such as the recording, processing, and archiving of an interview with a Texas German

speaker. They also help us pay our students and other staff for their work with the TGDP; give

TGDP presentations at academic conferences and community outreach events; and create and

distribute educational materials about Texas German culture, language and history.

Connect Us To Texas Germans In Your Community

We always want to hear from Texas Germans! Do you have any suggestions for how we can

contribute in more ways to the archiving and preservation of German culture, language, and

history in Texas? Then call us at (512) 910-5047, email texasgermandialect@gmail.com, or

contact Dr. Boas directly at hcb@mail.utexas.edu.

Thank you for supporting the Texas German Dialect Project! We could not continue our mission

without supporters like you.
